I’m in my parents San Francisco loft, in a complete Thanksgiving food coma. My family is binge watching a series that I just can’t get into. It’s the perfect time for me to write and think about the months ahead; where I want to go, what I want to accomplish.
I started perusing the internet in search for hotels that I felt fit the JAM aesthetic. When I travel I tend to work backwards. Find a design centric hotel, plan my trip around that hotel versus planning my trip around the destination. I always find that boutique hotels place themselves in the trendiest parts of the city, typically in the midst of the best shopping and restaurants. As I plan my travels for the upcoming year, I thought it made sense to organize my thoughts in this post while being able to share with you my curation of aesthetically driven destinations. They are not organized in any particular order or by country. Just beautiful places that I hope we can all experience!
L HOTEL - PARIS, FRANCE
If opulence is your thing, head to L Hotel in Paris. I literally dream of staying here and doing nothing but eating strawberries in bed wearing a luxurious robe. “Nestled in the heart of the Left Bank, amidst the cultural riches, bohemian soul, and high fashion of St Germain-des-Prés, L’Hotel is ideally situated to experience the art and culture of Paris. With interiors designed by the inimitable Jacques Garcia, the 20 bedrooms are all unique and luxurious, finished with exquisite materials and painstaking detail.”
LITTLE ALBION GUEST HOUSE - SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
This intimate 35 room former convent house features a rooftop garden and charming bar. A muted palette fills the bright, well lit rooms with rich velvet fabrics, patterned drapes and pops of eccentric colors in accessories & accents. The branding of this hotel is spot on, their website features the cutest drawings of all the rooms and accommodations. See here for yourself.
TARABEL - MARRAKECH
This hotel is a converted Colonial mansion that embodies elegance, luxury and desire. Surrounded by antique shops and tree lined patios this seems like the most beautiful and romantic place for a getaway with your loved one. the way the hotel describes their property takes your breathe away. “Calm, tranquility, peace, discretion, beauty, seem to be the watchwords of this unusual venue whose only privilege is to offer its guests an unforgettable escape back into time.”
PALAZZINA GRASSI - VENICE, ITALY
This 5-star hotel considers themselves a “lifestyle boutique.” Featuring over the top sensual rooms and considered the most glamorous place to party in Venice. The hotel also offers G House which is a private home you can rent 40 meters away from the main hotel. Even their logo has a way to allure you to want more.
COQUI COQUI - MERIDA, YUCATAN PENINSULA
I was fortunate enough to visit Coqui Coqui Copa when I was visiting Tulum back in April. To say that this line of hotels is breathtaking is an understatement. You feel you are being transported into a dream-like state the second you walk through the doors, the air smells of their collection of fragrance, their restaurants features incredible local food cooked with love and the rich decor puts you at ease. I would love to experience the Coqui Coqui Merida location as they describe themselves as “ornately decorated one-room private suite with an open living room, terrace and private rooftop pool to enjoy. Rich velvet drapes in deep jewel tones, period furniture with plush burgundy upholstery, golden accents, antique mirrors and selection of coffee-table books make-up the sumptuously luxurious decor. A large iron four-post bed balances the two freestanding French bathtubs, situated elegantly within the room and creating the perfect setting for a uniquely romantic experience. From the cultural offerings, to local craft markets, bustling gastronomic scene and distinctive architecture, Coqui Coqui Merida offers the perfect backdrop and base for exploring the unique opulence and decadent glamour of this historical Yucatán city.”
HOTEL PULITZER - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
“Meet quintessential Dutch elegance in an intricate maze of 25 connecting Golden Age canal houses. This hidden neighborhood features: intimate guest rooms, tranquil inner gardens, meeting & event spaces, a garden café, a hotel bar and a restaurant that serves simple yet beautifully crafted dishes. Pulitzer Amsterdam is a unique blend of up-market, traditional and modern Dutch craftsmanship hidden amongst the city’s iconic canals.” - I couldn’t beat the description on their site.
HOTEL DES GRANDS BOULEVARDS - PARIS, FRANCE
Not choosing favorites, BUT…….the 50 room hotel has an “interior that seduces the senses bridging the gap between romanticism & aristocracy with a gentle nod to the mischievous.” I love the playfulness and soul of this hotel that many other french hotels are lacking as their focus is on the cliche Louis XVI style. The hotel also features a bar called The Shell and a rooftop terrace called “The Shed.” To top it all off, the hotel is designed by my ultimate design crush Dorothee Meilichzon.

Fall & winter fashion is my thing. It always has been. I love nothing more than layering a cashmere sweater with a beautiful tweed coat, leather leggings and suede boots with an oversized scarf. Fall and winter fashion this season is all about velvet & plaid, patent leather pants, an abundance of leopard and animal print, chunky oversized sweaters, tweed and the white boot trend. The colder seasons are known for their neutral and sultry color palette but I’m loving how we are starting to see bright colors trending. Colors such as fire red, pops of hot pink, deep oranges and bright blues. Shop below my favorites from this season and let me know what trend you are loving the most!

When asked what makes the spaces I design special, I always refer back to my love for vintage. There is nothing better than incorporating a piece in your space that is completely unique to you and your home. Cuddled up with your first love on a sofa, rocking your child to sleep in a chair, a chest filled with secrets, a dining table that has experienced hours of conversation, each piece has absorbed memories of those now and then, here and gone. Most of the time you never know what type of history a piece holds, but I think it’s just as fun to use my imagination.
I have a pair of lucite and sheepskin dining chairs from the 1970’s. Every time I sit in them I think about what fabulous person once had them in their home. For a person to own a set of 4 fur dining chairs, they had to have been slightly eccentric and a bit nuts (kind of like myself.) I love that they now belong to me and I get to create my own memories in them and hopefully pass them down to my children someday.
I have an insane vintage squash blossom necklace from my Grandma. I wear it whenever I want to feel powerful. It’s proof that everything you once owned holds your energy and power. So create a home filled with energy, history and character. A space that mixes old a new. A space that truly represents yourself, your spirit and your style.

If you know me, you know that my whole life i’ve been obsessed with smelling good. I think every woman should have her “signature scent.” A scent that reminds her of the truest and purest version of herself. A scent that with one spritz brings her back to a specific memory, moment and time that makes her feel most alive. I realized my signature scent when I was in high school. After washing my hair with Herbal Essence, I would douse myself with Bath & Body Works “Warm Vanilla Sugar” body mist. After high school, I retired from the juvenile scent of the early 2000’s and my signature scent grew up with me. Now in my mid 20’s, I still have an everlasting connection to Vanilla, but a much more sophisticated version. I realized how much my signature scent was connected to me when one of my best friends told me a story about her daughter smelling a vanilla perfume at Anthropologie (#4 from above to be exact) and telling her mom “this smells like Jess!" When I tell you I have done my research, you better believe all the good and bad perfumes I have tested and how much time it has taken me to put together a list of the most sensual, unique and non-offensive eau de parfum’s on the market.
Fresh Cream is the most delicate and simple out of my picks. It is the perfect daytime fragrance that is non-offensive, affordable and simple. It has one layer that smells like straight up whipped cream. No musk, no amber, just pure sweetness.
This is my favorite fragrance of all time. Le Labo has special and limited addition scents for each city it has a flagship store. You can only get It from that specific location or once a year when Le Labo releases all limited addition scents for a short period of time. Le Labo’s Vanille 44 is Paris’s signature scent which reminds me of just that. An evening in Paris. It has notes of bergamot, incense, gaiac wood, mandarin, vanilla, muscenone, pipol and hedione. It is the ultimate date night fragrance in which Le Labo describes it as "a complex association of amber and woody incense that will unveil after its first taste of musk, a profound smell of vanilla. This fragrance is just a poem. "
Gypsy Water is a scent that transitions from day to night so beautifully and reminds me of it’s name - “a glamorization of the Romani, or Gypsy, lifestyle. The scent of fresh soil, deep forests and campfires evokes the dream of a free, colorful lifestyle close to nature.” The scent is not a true vanilla, but it’s base notes are those of Amber, Vanilla and Sandalwood with top notes of bergamot, lemon, pepper, juniper berries.
This is my little secret that i’m sharing with all of you. If the $500.00 Le Labo Vanilla 44 is not in your price range, pick up a bottle of this for only $24.00 from Anthropologie. It smells VERY similar. Inspired by the effortless confidence of a chic European woman, Pharmacia crafts fragrances reminiscent of a stroll through a castle garden. This spicy scent of roasted almond and clove layered with vanilla and blonde woods will leave you wanted more but not offending those around you.
